    The BBIO Preclinical Imaging division is offering outstanding preclinical imaging instruments using different imaging technologies, with a strong focus on MRI, uCT, PET and SPECT. Each of these different modalities are managed by a focused team of specific market product manager and the role of the Project Leader collaborations and animal handling solutions is to manage and align overlapping product areas where strong synergies between modalities can generate substantial unique selling points for Bruker. 


    The areas of high synergy includes two main focus points: (i) management of preclinical in-vivo imaging accessories, i.e. animal handling and supervision solutions and (ii) the management of preclinical imaging customer collaborations for R&D and Marketing, i.e. customer collaborations for the development and/or validation of animal imaging accessories.

    The Project Leader collaborations and animal handling solutions will be preferentially be based in the PCI headquarter in Ettlingen and will work in close collaboration with the market product manager of MRI, uCT and nuclear molecular imaging.

    In his role of PCI collaboration manager, he/she is interacting directly with the local collaboration managers of our customers, and internally with the different BBIO worldwide sales teams and/or the different R&D teams. In this role, he/she provides the overview of strategic areas for collaboration topics to the sales and market product manager team and actively supports the local sales team in the negotiation of collaboration contracts, and follow up of deliverables during the life time of such collaborations. 

    In his role of managing the preclinical imaging accessories, the Project Leader collaborations and animal handling solutions is responsible for the life cycle management of in vivo imaging animal equipment, including requirement engineering, development in the BBIO and PCI R&D organization, managing external partner and managing the verification and validation of such products. The nature of this activity requires that the candidate has a profound understanding of the needs and workflows, and also on regulatory and risk management aspects of in vivo imaging of small animals.   The development and validation of such equipment will require a close collaboration between selected customer, internal application scientists, R&D organization and the market product manager of the different modalities.


    Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

    • Product and Life Cycle Management of in vivo imaging accessories, including definition, development, documentation and risk and change management of animal cradles, animal supervision and animal anesthesia devices
    • Alignment of the product portfolio of in vivo imaging accessories between the different modalities of PCI
    • Execution of external collaboration projects in the field of the development of animal imaging accessories, i.e. with external partners or customers
    • Collaboration Management and active support of the worldwide sales team in negotiation and closing of collaboration contracts
    • Provide regular overviews and reports on strategic collaborations and the status of the PCI collaboration activities
    • Organize the active feedback from in vivo accessories to the product management, including
      • on specify user requirements, applications, and use scenarios, for both existing and new products and accessories
      • validate new applications, animal equipment, and software


    • Master or Ph.D. degree in a life-science discipline (biology, physics, chemistry)
    • Minimum three years of direct experience in preclinical in vivo imaging of mice or rats using at least one of the modalities of MRI, NMI or uCT.
    • Experience with direct animal experimentation (Felasa C or equivalent)
    • Good understanding of biomedical imaging research areas
    • Basic understanding of the product lifecycle management process
    • Ability for world-wide travel up to 15%


    The candidate requires the following skills
