    JPK provides microscopy instrumentation for biomolecular and cellular imaging, as well as force measurements on single molecules, cells and tissues. JPK has joined Buker in July 2018, bringing in-depth expertise in live-cell imaging, cellular mechanics, adhesion, and molecular force measurements, optical trapping, and biological stimulus-response characterization.

    Currently we are located at Berlin-Templehof and will move to Berlin-Adlershof in early April 2019.

    Aufgaben/Verantwortlichkeiten

    Ongoing development of scientific software for instrument control and measurements (mainly Java and Python), together with the other team members

    • Diverse projects including GUI, data collection and analysis, instrument control and software deployment, from design through to testing
    • Close collaboration with the instrument developers and applications specialists

    Qualifikationen

    • Degree in computer science / informatics or an equivalent discipline (e.g. physics, mathematics, electronics)
    • Excellent object-oriented design skills and knowledge of at least one object-oriented language (Java, C++, C#…)
    • The ability to plan and produce high quality software to a time schedule
    • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented working style to be able to understand the requirements of the development and applications specialists and translate them into new developments
    • Proficiency in English

    Additional relevant experience (not required but beneficial)

    • Scientific software development, data processing or control of measurement instrumentation
    • Use of standard unix developer tools and source code version control (preferably Git)
    • Multi-threaded programming
    • Automated software testing
    • Agile development, design patterns and refactoring
    • Camera control and / or image processing
    • Proficiency in German
